Why not have both? Start your NSF contours or storage up high and keep your lower dam for your immediate needs.

If $$ allows do as Shirley suggests.

WHY??

If you re-read the chapters mentioned above you will know that:
1. what you have done is incorrect for a number of reasons
a. In the Australian landscape water spread across the land gently moving fertility with it under the force of gravity.
It spread fertility evenly across the WHOLE landscape.

What you and
almost everybody else
have done is the EXACT opposite.

You have funneled all your water and fertility down to the bottom of the dam. Your dam will lose 2000mm of water a year to evaporation and when its dry you can get a machine to clear out the bottom and redistribute and reprocess all that fertility.

It is a waste of both resources and time.

Keep the one you have but do as Shirley suggests to get the optimal use of water and fertility the Ozzie way.
