Rock Fern
Gday I would like to know what to do with rock fern. Cattle eat it as a last resort and get tumors in their gut. They eventually die I believe.

Hi Chris.
ROCK FERN (Cheilanthes tenuifolia ssp. tenuifolia)
http://www.northwestweeds.nsw.gov.au/rock_fern.htm
Nasty for stock.
Slash it? Rake or place the slashed mulch un the uphill side of the affected area. The residue will move downhill through the affected area and you should see a decrease in the plant population. As Peter and Duane have said, plants won't live in their own residue.
Alternatively you could try this.
Feed hay out over it, the sheep/cattle will trample the hay residue and rockfern. As well as defecating there. Presto you have fertile mulch.
If you search for the bracken fern blog, that was one recommendation for treating that weed. Could work for rock fern in the same way.
