Thought I'd draw your attention to this good news piece from the ABC site.
Queensland's flood waters have finally arrived in Lake Eyre. I had no idea Lake Eyre covers 1/6 of the continent .

And to add to that another useful link is the Lake Eyre Sailing Club who keep a watch on the water in the lake.

There is also some good information about the lake along with the fact it gets water in it more frequently than you might think.
