Colin back when i was doing my traineeship with pigs we got a chance to go see a piggery near Ballarat. Quite amazing realy! They could back then run the piggery on 90% pig power! They trapped the gases from the pig waste to run genarators to produce electricty. But on your subject thou, they also m...

Larousse, your question of a home garden comes down to if you want a garden to have good looks or if you go by Peters ideas (the nieghbours will not be impressed of peters ideas with weeds). I think with your home garden you maybe best to have a look at permaculture, my best bet would be to use Yout...

Wilkie this is only my two bobs worth that i give you. Maybe Duane and Peter have different views. If you are going to have rip lines for your trees make sure that they go along the banks instead of up and down. By doing this you will catch more of the rainfall in your low rainll area, and not leach...

It's been about two weeks since the 2 inches rain over 5 days fell. The bindii that started to grow before the rain was stunted in growth, after 10 days the ground had dried out and know the bindii is growing at a rate of almost itself a day. I have been keeping an eye on the coverage around the pig...

Duane have you or Peter seen the media about the Barmah Red Gum Forest. Farmers have had cattle in the bush for over 100 years and now the beaucats have said that they stay out of the bush for good. After reading Peters' books and seeing that the Barmah Forest is the ponds edge, downsteam from the r...

It would be the same too if we had crops going in the same soil. As the soil is at its best to let the grasses out compete the weeds, crops will grow quicker than grasses and block out the sunlight to let the grasses grow. Once you have harvest the crops the plant matter that grows will be the one t...

Thanks Duane, In my area of the country, farming is based around irragation mainly with the flood system in lazered bays with drains at the bottom of the bays. Which after that goes into a drainage dam where you can either let it go back into the water coasre as in a creek, or be recycled to irragat...

Something i reliased while reading Peters books was about mulch piles. If you have a piggery in your area that uses Eco sheds, (these sheds are used with straw to house pigs in) you can try and get some of the fresh pig waste mix with straw. If you get the fresher waste there is more liquid combined...
