Re: Transforming rural land use by Ross Garnaut

From the teeny bit I've seen, folk like the Farmers Federation are involved so there should be SOME practical voices in there. Id hope the organic and permaculture guys might get into it too, providing some Further diversity in the debate. Interesting in that one thing it will require is co2 measure...

Re: Transforming rural land use by Ross Garnaut

Has anyone here looked at the new carbon farming initiative in Aus? I only found out about it the day after community consultation closed on the program, 4th of April or thereabouts, but essentially it will provide landowners / farmers with tradeable credits for carbon savings on farm. Eg, I think, ...

Re: The War on Willows

Wow, I haven't visited for a while and this has certainly been a debate hasn't it! One of our favorite sayings now when looking at our paddocks, or anything else, is What beautiful green surface area! We regularly lend our PA books and CDs to friends so they know why we are now avid fans of our weed...

Re: The book is available here....

Hi there - further to my queries above, I've since sourced both sets of audiobooks (they're supplied on CD) and they're fantastic. I always have them out on loan to people. Only one friend didn't like what he heard, most love it when they would never get around to reading a book. And some immediatel...

Hi there, I bought both books on CD and they're fantastic. We regularly lend them out to friends who would never get around to reading books, so it is really helping to share the ideas. Agree with Shirley, many people we speak to have heard of Peter and they're really interested when we offer them t...

audio book

Making the audio book is fantastic. I've been thinking the same thing, I have family who just aren't great readers who are relying on me 'explaining' everything to them - so they can argue with me when I don't explain it well enough! Being able to get them to listen to say a chapter at a time when i...

liming

Hi there, again I'm no means any kind of expert but my personal thinking around this came up with maybe some slightly different angles. The thing I remember from Pat's book Natural Horse Care is that lime does need to be limited. Spreading too much at a time (rates commonly recommended by agronomist...

Pat Coleby

Hi there, Pat Coleby is something of a legend in natural horsecare circles. Many who don't own their own property use her feeding guides to make up for having no control over the pasture their horses are on. I didn't track her book down for many years as the way I'd seen some feeding their horses on...

Thanx! We have thought about fruit trees but I doubt they'll do the job (slow down water)? The horses would also have a field day and get very sick most likely We're in a very heavy frost area so none of the tropical type fruit trees that might be useful have a chance here :) Plants that do well aro...

small property info

Hi there! We own a small 11 acre property in the Adelaide Hills SA, and have been developing our own ways of interpreting agronomy, organics and pasture management for a few years after virtually always getting bad results following standard advice! Have loved reading Peter's books and finding a 'fi...
