Had no idea how long i have been away from the site. Been way to long! I have been keeping on with Peters way of thinking for all this time and i can see why Peter is seen as someone with a chip off his shoulder. In my area the main thing people tell me about Peter is that he has a different rainfal...

Once this is done then he will have enough moisture in the soil to help the trees that he plants to grow with out the help of watering by hand. The co...

Have a look at the videos on Youtube about Peter and his ideas of keeping the "weeds" intact for the new smaller grasses. http://www.youtube.com/user/time4carbohydration You may even want to think about instead of slashing the whole paddock but instead slashing in strips. eg. one or two widths of th...

Duane,
I understand your concern but i am only doing my job that i'm told to do.
After spreading the waste we went along and dug the waste into the soil to stop the oxidising of the pig waste, this will keep more of the Nitrigen in the soil for the crop to use.

The manure we use is mainly pig waste, but also we have a small feed lot for the cattle also. The pig waste has alot of straw mixed in with it which comes out of our eco shelters that we use for housing the pigs inside of. Try putting the manure in a pile along the top side of the swales you have. B...

Something that i have talked to my Dad about was how do farmers make a profit, using a 20 year time frame in our area we look at all the different aspects over the years. Just in my time i have seen the worst drought on record, the worst flood on record, two of the four worst finance crashes on reco...

I thought about ways to do something like that but as my land is so sandy and quite flat rainfall soaks straight into the soil and moves down the slope under the surface. The only place that rain will flow on the surface is down the roads or tracks on the farm or on the few non sandy areas of the f...

Re: Aquaponics

Does anybody know of any research or info on the nutritional value of vegetables grown with an aquaponic system as opposed to soil grown? Have you used the link that Novaris has provided to look into the back yard aquaponics site :?: There is a fella using the name OutBackOssie, just use the search...

Just wondering if you could get a photo from inside the cuts you made in the swales looking uphill?
How many and how far apart have you made your swales?
