Update http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2011/03/07/3156741.htm I stand by the first paragraph of the above post  Would you grab a life jacket or merely change coloured deck chairs on a sinking ship? To further support the above paragraph.... I have just read that our new Liberal Government i...

Re: UPDATE from Victoria

This article almost escaped my reading, it was a Sunday news item and possibly timed to escape drawing too much attention! http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/government-blackmailed-university-20110305-1biyv.html When Governments use our taxes to fund Universities, it's supposed that we all benefit fr...

Re: The Gas Rush- Four Corners

What disturbs me most about the plight these property owners now face, is that even voting a change in Government means more of the same. Both major party's focus on the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and as we saw from Tony Abbott at the last election, the mining company $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$...

Re: WONS: New native weed- Eucalyptus

Hi Maggie's farm! What reason has been given for their removal ? I don't know if you will find any supporting arguments within these articles but interesting reading at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinnamomum_camphora including this section IN AUSTRALIA Cinnamomum camphora was introduced to Australi...

Re: Cutting the losses after Yasi

Ok, searching a little further I found this but it's an old listing... http://www.transformaustralia.com.au/paper.htm The WORLD FIRST totally environmentally friendly paper factory will soon begin in banana growing regions of North Queensland, Australia, using solar and wind energy. Banana paper, or...

Cutting the losses after Yasi

Yasi left so much destruction and the loss of income from the banana and sugar crops will have a deep impact on both the local and national economy. It will take some creative thinking to minimize the losses. I had heard of banana leaf paper sometime ago ....perhaps the Qld banana croppers already s...

Re: The War on Willows

Duane, this thread opened with an article you posted re a 'scientific study'. The words of that article....resurfaced in my mind. Quote- A CSIRO study into the water use of willows found more than five and a half megalitres of water could potentially be saved annually per hectare of willow canopy ar...

A Farm of the Future ...

Around the world we must accept and adopt new ways to farm as oil supplies decline. I happened across this doco quite by accident at another site but saw it available also on youtube for all to view. Share it with other farmers, family and friends! http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=A+Farm+...

Duane, I noted from the CSIRO article, it was to be submitted to this Journal for peer review. It appears 5th in the list. http://www.elsevier.com/wps/find/journaldescription.cws_home/622871/description#description I would suggest Peter write directly to the Editor of the Journal, A.L. Gill, pointin...

Re: Carbon Dioxide: Put Simply: It's all B.S.!!!

I would prefer my taxes to subsidize clean energy solar, geothermal, wind, any day instead of continuing to subsidize coal! Yes it's sibsidized! Of course there's a conservative base out there just waiting for our options to run out so they can peddle their NUCLEAR ambitions. John Howard didn't beli...
