After the flood, what for the waterways?

As I live in Toowoomba I have seen many "scored" waterways (cleaner and deeper) after the "Toowoomba Tsumani". What would Peter's recommendation be to restore them? Waterways through the "paddocks / countryside" I mean. As they are now aren't they just better salt drains?

When this type mower cuts it does not mulch, the product "just lies down" and generally along the same path. So if your vegetation was thick enough I'd imagine it could be laid "along a slope" as a barrier to water flow? My query is though, is vegetation left on the ground "...

Slashing Weeds with multi disc mowers

Ancient Australian river systems

I'm sure I listened to a Radio National story (PM I thought) 10Mar10 telling that "someone" has developed a software package that can reveal "structures under the ground" 35 meters down (I'm unable to verify this!) And this has been used to show that the Australian inland was onc...

White Ants producing CO2

Thanks sceptic, but I'm no further ahead, I don't understand the "language" But another thing Peter said "human contribution to CO2 emmissions is +/- 5%? I am 70+ and I remember years of more regular seasons than we have now, and frankly I am "worried" for succeeding generat...

"using lantana / privet"

At P189 Peter explains he would use lantana + to "break the cycle of gum trees" / allelopathic effect and I could understand this, lantana does grow well under gum trees and it does produce good soil under. But I'm querying what comes next. Do you then "clear out" the lantana to ...

White Ants producing CO2

At P39 Peter quotes that white ants produce more CO2 per day than humans. Can I be advised where I can find this info?
